While many think of bears when they hear the word polar or the movie Frozen when hearing the name Norway, many Norwegians think of the Fram and the polar expeditions of many brave Norwegian explorers. On this adventure, our Oslo & Fram Museum Private Driving Tour, we’ll explore the capital of Norway and its polar pride, the Fram Museum.
Driving through the picturesque city centre of Oslo in our private vessel (aka vehicle), we’ll cruise past many of the city’s main attractions. We’ll discover the Oslo Opera House, the Royal Palace, the Oslo Cathedral, and the waterfront area of Pipervika, where we’ll find the Nobel Peace Center, Oslo City Hall and Akershus Fortress.
Our drive then takes us to the green peninsula of Bygdøy, home to many of Oslo’s museums, including the Fram Museum. At the Fram Museum, we’ll hear stories of three Norwegian polar explorers: Fritjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup and Roald Amundsen, and their expeditions to the very North and South. Enter the ships they sailed with and be amazed by the bravery and commitment the men showed in the extreme cold of the Arctic and Antarctic.
Our adventure ends back in the city centre, where we picked you up. We hope you enjoyed your expedition through Oslo and Norwegian polar history, leaving you wanting more - to join us on another expedition in Oslo or perhaps in Copenhagen or Stockholm!
