Mount your bike; we are off to explore alternative Oslo! On our Authentic Oslo Private Bike Tour, we head for the Akerselva River, with its many waterfalls, and the Bohemian district of Grünerløkka. Imagine a morning cycling through lush green nature in the middle of a vibrant residential area - as lovely as it sounds!
We begin in central Oslo, and among the first stops, we find the Oslo Opera House. Marvel at the unusual Oslo landmark and the view of the Oslo Fjord before continuing around the bend to see the many new buildings and public areas that have popped up recently. One of the more modern districts of Oslo is Sørenga Beach, where, as the name indicates, you find a local swimming spot. If you are brave enough to dip your toes into the Oslo Fjord, we suggest you return later.
From present-day Oslo to the city's historical roots, we steer our bikes towards Ruinparken and Gamlebyen, the old location of Oslo. That's right; the entire town was once moved. We'll explore Old Oslo before hopping back on our bikes to check out the Akerselva River! Biking up the Akerselva River, the stream of water that divides Oslo in two, we'll see everything from mighty waterfalls to old industrial buildings and facades covered in street art. We have entered the cool district of Grünerløkka, which was once the home of well-known artists such as Edvard Munch.
To recharge our batteries before returning to the city centre, we'll stop at Mathallen, a famous food hall. Time flies when you are having fun, and before you know it, we're heading back from the routes that took us off the beaten path to the city centre again. We hope you return having enjoyed the morning just as much as we have!
